JOB PURPOSE:

To set, program and operate machining centres mainly using Heidenhain controls producing small to medium batch precision components, machining precision parts to customer specifications and within ISO9001:2015 quality standards.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Machining low quantities of precision components – various metals.
  • Be adverse in using Heidenhain/Mazatrol controls.
  • Producing components from present order book using existing programs, tooling and fixtures.
  • Program and engineer from scratch, new components using primarily online programming processes.
  • Ensure all first off components are to an acceptable standard.
  • Ensure all production components are to an acceptable standard adjusting the machine and using in process inspection where required.
  • Full knowledge of CNC workshop equipment, set, operate and programme.
  • Liaising with Inspection Department to ensure that products produced are to the specifications required.
  • Ability to resolve queries and problems to best of knowledge before escalating up to next level.  Ensure minimum occurrence of errors and provide workable solutions.
  • Responsible for adhering to health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Conducting assigned tasks in a controlled and safe manner, paying respect to colleagues and equipment.
  • Always present a positive attitude and an adaptable approach to problems.
  • Be able to use HYPERMILL software
  • Selecting the appropriate tooling for the job.
  • Liaising with machine shop to ensure that products produced are to the specifications required.
  • Ability to run multiple machining centres when required.
  • Perform in process inspection operations.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    including the reading of engineering drawings and model requirements
