Mk 4 Inflate Deflate Gun
The lnflation / Deflation Gun is a hand-held mechanism that controls the flow of air into and out of aircraft tyres. lt acts as an interface between the charging source (tyre inflation kit) and the aircraft tyre, and gives the operator control over inflation and deflation with a single, double acting lever.

THE MARK 4 AIRCRAFT TYPE INFLATOR / DEFLATOR GUN
DESCRIPTION
General
1. The Inflation / Deflation Gun is a hand-held mechanism that controls the flow of Nitrogen / Air into and out of aircraft tyres. lt acts as an interface between the charging source (tyre inflation kit) and the aircraft tyre, and gives the operator control over inflation and deflation with a single, double acting lever.
A pressure gauge is situated on top of the unit to monitor tyre pressure. Maximum inlet pressure (indicated on both the gauge and the body) varies between 300 psi (20 bar) and 600 psi (40 bar) depending on customer requirement. Incoming charging Nitrogen / Air must overcome a Schraeder non-return valve and pass through a protective filter before being held in a sealed gallery. When the charging lever is pushed up, air flows from the gallery, through a series of drillings, to the outlet connector adjacent to the pressure gauge.
To deflate a tyre, the unit is simply connected to the tyre inflation valve on the wheel and the operating lever pushed down instead of up. Deflation should be done in a slow and controlled manner. The air exhausted from the tyre is fed through drillings in the unit via a filter, to an exit port directly below the pressure gauge.
